Evaluation Question 3

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

The film opening we have made is only a low budget (we spent less than £5 on the film) film meaning that this would not be distributed by a production company of great size. If we were to pitch the film we would aim it at local production companies who make low budget films. For example, a local production company called "Skeleton Productions".
Furthermore, we would also look at pitching it towards schools to use for their media departments as examples of films or for schools production companies. We would pitch our film at these institutions because the standard of film fits there budget and the standard would fit the requirements for a school production. These institutions would distribute our film because they would produce low budget like ours.

However, from our research we discovered that there are low budget companies that make post-apocalyptic films- such as "Asylum Productions". Furthermore, big headline companies such as "Universal" and "Paramount" also have made many post-apocalyptic films. If we were to pitch our film at big companies these 2 would be the ones we would do this.

For our film opening we could use many free distributors to distribute our film opening and try and get it out there, into the world of the media. For example, we could use Youtube to post our film on and get it spotted that way; through social media such as "tumblr" and "Facebook" to get it viewed by many people. Furthermore, we could get our school website or our own website, if we were to make one, to distribute it.
The idea I would use from this is to get it onto the internet and try to spread it virally. Major film distributors have done this in examples of "Carrie" and "Devils Due". Here are the examples that went viral...
